Our Key Takeaways from AREC17
As always, what a great time we had at AREC17 this year, catching up with familiar faces and meeting some great new people! Here are some of our key learnings and insights from AREC17.
1. Supplier collaboration. We strongly feel an open, integrated ‘proptech’ landscape is the trend for the Real Estate Industry. As digital toolsets expand, no one provider can “do it all”. This year was about suppliers acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses. By collaborating, there is mutual understanding of playing to each other’s strengths, with an overall benefit to mutual clients.
2. Data protection. We had plenty of Real Estate Principals approaching us and openly discussing the need to protect data and avoid data sharing with 3rd parties to ensure overall data ownership. This is a key element to our brand promise.
3. The rise of Social Media. Gary Vaynerchuk chatting with Tom Panos via a recorded video was impressive. He calls it as it is, ‘no bullshit’. His biggest suggestions were Facebook adverts and audience targeting. Key message here for Directors is to move away from ‘spray’ email marketing. We offer targeted, content rich email campaigns along with Facebook ads.
4. Strong voice to the market. Buyer expectations have lifted and transferred from other industries into Real Estate. People are now whingeing about their UBER being 8mins late. People want information fast and they want it now! Providing a branded email response 24/7 will give your buyers/tenants information when they want it most.

5. Continued learning and Collaboration. With a vast array of topics covered, there is a lot for everyone to learn, no matter their experience, or role in the office. There were lots of networking between agents and suppliers to solve business problems. That’s what I love about AREC.
